Hackney Wick is one of 150 areas in England that has received £1 million over 10 years as part of the ‘Big Local’ programme. It seeks to enable people who live in the areas to build on local talents and aspirations so they can identify and act on their own needs to make their areas even better places to live, both now and years to come

Big Local is a long term innovative programme that aims to achieve lasting change, it provides a mixture of funding, finance and support.

Wick Ward in Hackney was awarded £1 million by the Big Lottery Fund in 2012 to spend over a 10 year period. Local residents were given the opportunity as part of a community consultation, to have a say in how the money gets spent. Hub 67 has been formed in response to this consultation, as well as research taken out by the Local Development Framework’s Sustainability Appraisal (2012), data from the LBH Wick Ward Profile (2013) and the 2011 Census.
