Hub 67 is a new project In Hackney Wick which has been set up in response to an identified need for a community space for local residents of all ages to use for both recreational purposes and for signposting to local services.

The space has been donated by London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), East End Community Foundation are the leaseholders and we have received funding from the Wick Award for project and running costs (www.wickaward.co.uk).

We will be planning a regular programme of activities for people of all ages. Local residents will have the opportunity to run their own projects and volunteers will be recruited to share their skills and experience here.

In the two years leading up to Hub 67 being built, it was identified that there are a  lack of positive activities and opportunities for young people to have a say in local issues. Hackney has a relatively young population with more than one in four residents aged under 20 years old. Therefore we will be working with under 25’s to lead and develop activities, alongside providing opportunities for volunteers of all ages to get involved with running and promoting the space.
